About 10 miles west of the village of Conway on the Kancamagus Highway is the trailhead for the Champney Falls Trail. This trail will be most of the ascent to the summit of Mount Chocorua at 3.2 miles with the Piper Trail being the last 0.6 mile. Although just below 3,500ft of elevation, Mount Chocorua has a rugged bald summit and offers spectacular views of the White Mountains. The summit's rocky outcrop is akin to much higher mountains and has rock scrambles similar to higher peaks.
The ascent from the trailhead will take you along a beautiful and at times steep route. About 1.4 miles from the trailhead is a minor detour that will take you past 2 waterfalls, Champney Falls and Pitcher Falls. Mount Chocorua is featured on the United States 25 cent coin that was released in 2013. Beautiful views of Mount Chocorua can be seen from the south on the banks of the Chocorua Lake.
